  • The Jones Family kitchen – Breakfast Review

The Jones Family Kitchen in Belgravia is a hidden gem, snuggled within Belgravia’s Eccleston Yards. They are renowned for their steaks, however, they also have an enticing breakfast menu, which we were excited to try out. Emulating a modern steakhouse vibe, the attention to detail creates a very warm welcome. With additional outdoor seating, perfect for sunny days and warm evenings. After we received our coconut lattes, we eagerly awaited our orders. We chose French toast with brioche and maple syrup, with a sprinkling of icing sugar. I opted for the fruit compote with crème fraîche. The second sweet treat we tried was the pancakes. Again with maple syrup and icing sugar but with added bananas and crème fraîche. Both were extremely mouthwatering. Wanting to try something savoury, we ordered the avocado toast. Smashed avocado with sun-dried tomato on sourdough, which was simply divine. Their quirky menus mimicking a 1950’s vibe, along with their bathroom doors stating Mr Jones and Mrs Jones, did not go un-noticed, we loved theses small touches, adding a little extra excitement to our dining experience. Although The Jones Family Kitchen is renowned for its steaks, we highly recommend the breakfast menu, they offer a great selection of mouth-watering dishes and throughout the year, Eccleston Yards plays host to seasonal events, so keep your eyes peeled. The breakfast menu is available Tuesday – Saturday. Address: 7-8 Eccleston Yards Belgravia, London, SW1W 9AZ. • Chop Chop By Four Seasons At The Hippodrome – Review

Located two minutes from Leicester Square Station, inside the Hippodrome casino you will find the newly opened Chop Chop by the renowned Four Seasons, offering authentic Cantonese dishes. When you enter you will be greeted with the casino and flashing lights, head to the lower ground floor and you will find the restaurant, you will feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle of the city and discovered a quiet hidden gem. The Menu offers so many delicious dishes, which includes the star of the show – the ’renowned Hong Kong style roast duck, named by The Financial Times as ‘the best in the world’ you will also find Char Sui BBQ Pork, Roast Crispy Pork Belly, Black Pepper Lobster and Soya Chicken. For starters, I ordered fried calamari and dumplings. I went for the chili vegan option, filled with vegan meat and a mix of vegetables, they were fresh, flavoursome with a kick of spice. My dining partner went for the prawn and chive dumplings and commented that they were one of the best-tasting dumplings she had eaten in a while. For the mains, we went for the classic egg fried rice, sweet and sour prawns, chicken chow mein, vegetable vermicelli noodles and vegan braised aubergine. These authentic Cantonese dishes were delicious and packed full of flavour, tantalising my tastebuds! The staff were very attentive and welcoming and we had an incredible evening dining at Chop Chop. If you’re in central London and looking for a sophisticated authentic Chinese dining experience, I recommend Chop Chop by Four Seasons at the Hippodrome, with their extensive menu you won’t be disappointed. Chop Chop is open from 6pm until 4am, which means you can also get your Chinese food fix, into the early hours of the morning. • &Dine – Review

If you haven’t already heard about the innovative food delivery platform – &Dine, it’s an online food marketplace connecting passionate makers and independent food businesses with customers by delivering authentic (and delicious) handmade food. &Dine seeks to encourage foodies to start their own food businesses, whilst enhancing a sense of community through the platform. The easy to navigate site offers a great search function, allowing users to filter by food type or the date they would like there food delivered. An impressive range that also features non-meal dishes such as spreads and raw bars, we were excited to try out &Dine for a fuss-free Friday night dinner. Scrolling through the pages of options, we were delighted to see that each vendor page included an image and photo of the chef, really bringing home the personalisation of &Dine. Finding it hard to choose, we opted for vegan delights from Hungry Buddhas. Chef Suki’s menu is proudly Afro-Asian cuisine inspired by both her and her husband’s backgrounds and travels, we went for the Callaloo Dumplings and Vegan Soy & Hot Honey Glazed Aubergine. In the morning I was sent an email notification with a 3-hour delivery window which was very handy. The meal was delivered in a cold bag with ice packs included so it was still refrigerator-cold when we received it. When it came to dinner time, we scanned a handy QR code on the recyclable packaging for cooking instructions and got to it. I was so pleased by how it all turned out, despite my kitchen being far from professional the meal was cooked to perfection. I was a bit worried about the dumplings as there was a steaming process involved but they were super straightforward and came accompanied by a delicious salty-sweet sauce to finish it all off. The aubergine was equally as easy to cook and garnished extravagantly with roasted peanuts and tropical mango slaw, and a honey soy chili sauce. With the whole meal coming to under £20 plus £7 for a bottle of red from the local off-license, we enjoyed a restaurant-quality meal at the fraction of the price, from the comfort of our own home. Pricing: Callaloo Dumplings (6x) £5.50, Vegan Soy & Hot Honey Glazed Aubergine £13.00 Food Vendor: Hungry Buddhas Website: www.anddine.co.uk Written by Jordan Crowley Photography courtesy Hungry Buddahs

  • Superb Italian cuisine at Como Garden – Review

A visit to Como Garden is a transportive trip to the heart of Italy. We dined on a rainy January day, and immediately felt uplifted by the genuine Italian charm and ambiance of the restaurant. The décor is redolent of a trip to Como, all verdant greens, gleaming marble tabletops, and crisp white linen. Dining is based around a delightful indoor olive tree in the centre of the restaurant, with a mix of curved booths and banquette seating around this focal point. Dishes are served on colourful earthenware plates and bowls, all the better to show off the amazing food. Owners Alberto and Arian Zandi are consummate restauranteurs and have put together a decadent tapas menu. The offering consists of many traditional recipes using their hand-made pasta and fresh delicious ingredients, plus some unexpected modern adaptations, there is plenty to excite the taste buds. It’s recommended you order two to three dishes per person to allow for a broader dining experience, which is perfect for me as I love to be able to indulge in as many flavours as possible, and saves on any ‘food envy’ when your companion’s dish arrives! With this sharing concept in-mind we choose a selection of classic dishes accompanied by crisp cold Prosecco. The beef carpaccio was incredibly light and decorated beautifully with little orbs of pesto and delicate shavings of parmesan, accompanied by homemade Italian bread, drizzled with olive oil and rich balsamic. Along with our beef we had a classic Arancini, which was incredibly crispy and warming, the parmesan and fontina cheese melding perfectly together. Next was the Truffle & Parmesan Tagliolini. Ribbons of home-made pasta, in a light creamy sauce, topped off with some incredibly generous shavings of truffle. My personal favourite, as I’m a huge truffle fan. The depth and opulence of truffle feels so decadant, and is something I wouldn’t generally indulge in at home, which makes the dish even more of a treat. To accompany our pasta we ordered a light and totally refreshing salad of Sicilian orange, cashews and olives, the crispness marrying up beautifully with the creamy depth of the truffle sauce. And for the piece de resistance a Tiramisu. For me the benchmark of a great Italian restaurant is not only in the pasta, but the Tiramisu, and this one does not disappoint. Presented in a perfect-for-sharing dish, topped with a thick dusting of chocolate powder, a tiny viola, and crunchy coffee beans, the luxurious texture was like velvet. We felt very spoilt indeed, and I gladly broke my post-Xmas diet! Written by Claire Bloom To book visit www.comogarden.co.uk Photography by Claire Bloom
