Shrimp Shack – Review
If you’re looking for an American-style experience with a difference, head to Shrimp Shack, especially if you’re a fan of seafood. This fun casual dining spot ticked all our boxes. The joint is bright, clean and ideal for parties with fun fishbowl mocktails and a laid-back vibe. You also get your food on a tray ideal for sharing and you are given blue gloves to avoid fishy fingers and bibs to wear if you are extra messy.
We tried the salt and pepper Calamari to start with a cajun mayo, which whet our appetite perfectly, the batter was crispy and moreish and the spicy mayo was the perfect compliment. We chose one of the Original Shrimp Shack platters with Lamb Cutlets and extra shrimp, which was more than enough for both of us to share, the portions are incredibly generous! You get a choice of two sides and we had fries with a garden salad.
The cutlets were tasty and tender but the shrimp were our favourites. They are served butterflied, with heads on but are super easy to eat and really tender. We got all three sauces – a stunning garlic butter, lemon butter and a cajun-style sauce and there was not much of the garlic butter by the end of the meal. Too good not to!
Our drinks were well above the usual mocktail fare: we chose the summer cup, a refreshing blend of lime, raspberry, cucumber and mint which were delicious and not too sugary and huge! All in all we enjoyed our evening and recommend you try their fin-tastic menu very soon.
