Review of the Elevated Happy Hour menu at Oblix East at The Shard
The Shard is an iconic London building and offers some of the best dining London has to offer. At Level 32 of The Shard we depart the escalator and turn left into the entrance of Oblix, a sophisticated and upmarket bar and eatery. After traversing the dimly lit corridor we open out into Oblix East, where we are greeted by stunning views across the city (literally from every angle) and a refined and buzzing restaurant and bar.
We are seated next to the signature full glass facade and with spectacular views of Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf we tuck in to the news bar snacks menu, dubbed “girl dinner”, a trend hailing from New York and spreading quickly to London.
Stunning both day and night Oblix, which is renowned for its contemporary dining has launched this fresh and sophisticated take on Happy Hour. These elevated Light bites and snacks, available 4pm – 7pm include Burgers, Squid, Tartare and Butter Chicken, as well as caviar, to name a few. No matter how big or small your appetite there are options for everyone.
We opted for the famous “New York Happy Meal” concept of Fried Chicken, Caviar & Champagne, as well as the Martini & Fries. With a choice of Martini’s, our favourite was the Blueberry, although both the Yuzu & pencha gilmet, and Apple & cinnamon were delicious! The Chicken was crispy, and came paired with sour cream and oscietra caviar (10g). The Fries were deliciously seasoned and herb salted. Personally, I believe in a side of fries goes with everything, and this martini did not disappoint.
The prices are reasonable:
Fried Chicken & Champagne - £24
Fried Chicken & Caviar - £38
(Dirty?) Martini & Fries - £16
And if that’s not enough to feed your hunger, their is another bar snack menu, offering delicious bar snacks.
We can thoroughly recommend this new “concept” and for those who want to stop by for spectacular views, good cocktails and food, Oblix offers the perfect solution. So grab your girlfriends, your martini and get ready to have some fun!
