Review of Sushi Kyu
We visited Sushi Kyu in Soho recently to sample their new 8 pcs Omakase Nigiri which includes a starter, eight pieces of omakase nigiri, one temaki roll and dessert. Located in the heart of Soho, London which only opened about 5 months ago, the restaurant offers an intimate experience with just 10 seats available, all positioned in front of the sushi counter where you can watch the masters of craft at their work.
We began our meal with a glass of English sparkling wine from Black Chalk winery in Hampshire, which was a delightful surprise as it tasted so good, so much so that we had another glass. The appetizer of yellow tail with yuzu ponzu sauce was a perfect accompaniment for the fizz.

Our seats allowed us to watch each piece of nigiri being meticulously crafted by the skilled chef. He showcased his expertise and attention to detail prior to him serving us, providing comprehensive explanations of each dish and the best way to enjoy it.

The selection included a variety of fresh, seasonal fish, each with its unique flavour and texture such as Red Mullet from France, Squid, Scallop, Japanese Yellowtail. Jumbo prawn with sea urchin and Wasabi Shrimp with roasted jalapeno sauce, Turbot and pièce de résistance, Tuna with Caviar. The sushi novice that I am, the dishes were outstanding - so fresh, full of flavour and delicious.
I tried a glass of their Sake, which was extremely light and floral. To end the meal, we shared black sesame and matcha ice cream which was handcrafted by a well-known gelateria for Sushi Kya – the perfect way to end meal.
In conclusion, Sushi Kyu's 8 pcs Omakase Nigiri is a must-try for sushi enthusiasts. The combination of top-quality ingredients, masterful preparation, makes it a standout dining destination in Soho. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to indulge in an authentic and memorable sushi experience.
