We’ve all experienced the struggle of squeezing into a cramped coffee shop, juggling a bag stuffed with a laptop, notebook, pens, a water bottle, and who knows what else — only to end up at a tiny table with no plug socket and sluggish Wi-Fi. It’s so frustrating! So, finding an affordable, comfortable spot to work for the day is always high on my priority list. When I heard that Shoreditch hotel nhow London had launched a new hot-desking package in their vibrant, creatively charged workspace, I knew I had to give it a go.

The Hot Desking Reloaded package costs just £22 and includes reliable Wi-Fi, unlimited teas and coffees (from 12pm to 5pm), and a lunchtime burger or sandwich with a soft drink from the midday menu (served between 12pm and 3pm). The menu offers tempting choices like the Lord Bacon Cheeseburger, Spring-Pea Burger, Crispy Chicken Burger, and the Guilty Club Sandwich — plus vegan alternatives for plant-based diners.

The hot-desking stations are set in an open-plan, ground-floor space that’s bursting with colour and creativity. Quirky decor like the Big Ben rocket and a giant bear offering free hugs inject a sense of fun into the atmosphere.

Upon arrival, we checked in at reception and quickly settled into our seats. It was pleasantly quiet, and we got comfortable right away. The staff were warm and attentive, and we definitely made the most of the free-flowing tea and coffee throughout the day. It was such a refreshing change from working at home or at a noisy coffee shop. I genuinely felt more productive in this environment, accompanied by the laid-back sounds of Afro beats playing softly in the background.

Around 1pm, I ordered the crispy chicken burger with a Coke, just the thing to help me power through the rest of the day. The inclusion of lunch in the package is great, it gave me a well-needed break from my laptop without the usual dilemma of deciding where to eat or venturing out into the cold. All I needed to do was walk over to the restaurant (on the same floor) and order.

Although the package technically ends at 5pm, the staff kindly let me stay until 6pm since it was quiet, which worked out perfectly as I had a dinner reservation at 6pm with a friend in their restaurant. Guests booking the hot-desking package can enjoy 20% off dinner, another fantastic perk.

For starters, I tried the shrimp tacos, which were packed with flavour and made for a great opener. My main was the Salmon Fillet Mi-Cuit, served with tenderstem broccoli, beurre blanc, caviar, and pea shoots — the salmon was cooked to perfection, and the creamy sauce added a silky, indulgent touch to every bite.

For dessert, I couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding: rich, decadent, and the perfect sweet finish to my day.
