Hithe and Seek – Review
If you’re looking for a meal with an exceptional view look no further than Hithe & Seek, situated in the Westin Hotel overlooking the Thames. We visited for their new collaboration with esteemed wine Shoreditch writer Hannah Crosbie and were thrilled when she came and introduced herself and welcomed us to the evening along with the Head Chef Fabio De Paulis. Together they have created a tongue in cheek menu for lovers – “The Fully Monty” six small plates to share with wine pairings and a “Dalston Clover Club” Cocktail for £99 per person.
We started with the “Catfish” – exactly what it said on the tin as Torched King Oyster Mushroom appeared as scallops with oyster leaf and parsnip puree, a great amuse bouche and a giggle to start the evening. This was paired with Tattinger Nocturne, a really sweet blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay which went well with the soft flavours of the mushroom.
This was followed by “The Anniversary” a delicious and moreish sea bass carpaccio dusted with compressed tomato, a stunning basil crumble and champagne granita paired with Balfour Skye’s Chardonnay.
“My- Type- on -Paper” was one of our favourites, a Langoustine and smoked cheese Risotto with a citrus bisque foam, a really generous portion with a dark fruity red in M Chapoutier, Gigondas from the Rhone. We followed up with the “Booty Call” basically a kebab but pimped up : a lamb shish with mint tzatziki and Padron Peppers.
We didn’t have much room for “The Ex” – a chocolate shell filled with mango mousse. The meal was a real delight and is served until 9th March. Fabio mentioned there will be more collabs to come so we will be returning!
