Christmas markets in Coal Drops Yard

King’s Cross marked the launch of Christmas recently with the UK debut of Fashion Santa, (otherwise known as former runway model, Paul Mason). Dressed in his signature red velvet suit, the world-renowned Christmas style icon and philanthropist unveiled an illuminated, festive alpine wonderland, complete with an interactive ski slope on Canal Side Steps and a brand-new, 47-foot alpine ski-themed tree in Coal Drops Yard.

The whole area will also be hosting a changing line up of 10 amazing Christmas markets over the coming weeks until Thursday 22nd December 2022, offering unique gifts, from emerging fashion and vintage vinyl to vegan food and arts and crafts. The festive markets include the Shotengai Market on 15th-18th December on Lower Stable Street in Coal Drops Yard, featuring Japanese homeware, food, fashion and more; then every Tuesday-Sunday between 1st-22nd December the much-loved regular Christmas under the Canopy market brings its brilliant line up of London’s best artisan traders and food stalls to West Handyside Canopy. The monthly Drops Market will run from 2nd-4th December at Coal Drops Yard, with a range of extraordinary goods from emerging brands who don’t yet have a physical space in the UK. Also on 2nd-4th December is Canopy Vegan Market on West Handyside Canopy, offering a no-compromise range of vegan food, homeware and cosmetics from some of the best vegan brands in the UK.

From 9th-11th December, the Mexican Christmas Market comes to Coal Drops Yard, with artisanal Mexican clothing, accessories, ornaments and craftworks from independent artists and designers. Meanwhile, on 10th December, The Crossing will host The Illustrators’ Christmas Fair with works from some of the best local independent artists, collections of unique prints, cards, zines and more. The Crafty Fox Christmas Market on 11th December will offer prints, jewellery, ceramics, textiles and homeware by emerging designers, makers and artists. Finally, Lower Stable Street’s regular weekend market will also run every week from Thursday-Sunday until 18th December 2022, offering one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts.

With plenty of unique products on offer, these markets make for another extraordinary Christmas in King’s Cross. In addition, the much-loved Club Curling has returned to Coal Drops Yard, but with an après ski twist.
