The faces of our diverse nation, Portrait of Britain returns with volume 5.

The faces of our diverse nation, Portrait of Britain returns with volume 5.

Each year, Britain and its hugely diverse inhabitants ride the rollercoaster of trials and tribulations, struggles and successes. The last 5 years in particular have had more ups and downs than we’d care to remember and for each of those years, Hoxton Mini-press in collaboration with 1854 Media and British Journal of Photography have been right there to celebrate the inhabitants of our nation.

The Portrait of Britain book provides a visual record of the people of Britain and their stories as the country continues to change around us. Back for a 5th installment, the book contains 200 selected portraits to support 1854’s annual awards. The honest, candid images tell stories of vulnerability, struggle, achievement and real life.

Every year, photographers will submit photos to the Portrait of Britain competition in hope of being selected to have their photos showcased in the Portrait of Britain book and displayed on JCDecaux screens across the UK, so keep your eyes peeled as you walk around… The photos will make you laugh, cry, question, and reflect, and above all else, offer a unique view of our shared identity.
