The new Reflections cocktail menu at The K Bar – Review

A hidden South Kensington gem, I’ve heard great things about The K Bar at The Kensington Hotel. With its understated glamour and exclusive atmosphere, the spot is renowned for having some of the best cocktails in the area on offer.

We were there to try the new ‘Reflections’ cocktail menu, we were instantly impressed with the physical space; oak panels, polished brass accents, mirrored walls and slate floor, it gives off elegant speakeasy vibes, with dimmed lighting and a banging playlist to match.

The menu was presented to us in a jewelled light up box, with a mirror allowing you to read through the options in its reflection, an ingenious nod to the theme of the new menu. 16 cleverly created cocktails, each telling its own story inspired by diverse eras, countries, and cultures, only the finest of ingredients have made the cut, with premium spirits like Johnny Walker Blue Label, Casamigos Reposado Tequila, Hendricks and Belvedere all listed. Alongside these, house-made pickling, sherbets, bitters, and infused liqueurs are also staple parts of these luxurious drinks, showing just how much time is put into each creation.

In the mood for champagne, I began with what I can honestly say is one of the best champagne cocktails I’ve ever tried; STRAVAGANZA; Aval Dor Cornish Vodka, Pimm’s, Earl Grey Cordial and Perrier Jouët Grand Brut. I’m usually of the opinion that contaminating champagne with other drinks is a form of blasphemy, but this is one of the rare exemptions to the rule. Despite the other exotic ingredients the taste of the Perrier Jouët Grand Brut still shone through making for a fruity update.

A big fan of tequila in any form, I moved on to the GIBBOUS; Casamigos Reposado Tequila, Empirical The Plum and Mango, Ube which was a super easy drinking option that was both sweet and tangy, super refreshing. Finishing up with our bartender’s suggestion, the PARCA; The Lost Explorer Mezcal Espadin, Fair Kumquat, Chartreuse, agave and vinegar, I was unsure about this one but I’m glad I followed our server’s advice as it was delightful.

A treasure trove of clandestine conversations, languid libations, and ‘just one more’ nightcaps, The K Bar and Kensington Hotel offers a beautiful setting, exceptional hotel-style service, and outstanding cocktails. With prices on the ‘Reflections’ menu starting from £19 per cocktail, the exceptionally high-quality ingredients and luxury setting justify the pricing.
