Tapas Brindisa Soho – Review

As well as selling award-winning Spanish produce online and at Borough Market, Brindisa restaurants offer tantalising authentic Spanish cuisine with a contemporary twist at their five London restaurants. With locations in Soho, South Kensington, Battersea, London Bridge and Richmond, there is always a good reason to drop in for a full meal experience or a tasty tapas snack. And with regular supper clubs with live music and menus for kids there is something for everyone.

We checked out their cosy modern Soho branch for a post-shopping lunch. Located just off Carnaby Street, it’s the perfect pit-stop for shoppers, tourists and city workers. The menu is a mix of small plate tapas and main dishes, and although we indulged in a full three courses (including a very naughty dessert!) we didn’t feel overly full, just comfortably satisfied by the clever mix of flavours and expertly selected spices. The menu at Brindisa is always changing, as well as offering classic dishes, their specials menu is constantly updated and keeps customers coming back for more.

Traditional favourites such as Padron Peppers and crunchy Jamon Croquettes are always available, which we happily devoured as well as an extensive charcuterie and cheese board selection. They also have expertly selected pairing wines and digestives to perfectly complement your experience.

My personal highlight was the Pulpo a Deira, consisting of thinly sliced grilled octopus with potatoes, capers and smoked paprika, a stunning combination of salty and smoked flavours.  Another triumph was Arroz Melozo, a dish of ‘creamy’ rice, butternut squash and crunchy pumpkin seeds, a completely unexpected sensation with spices of Spanish origin. Side dishes of beetroot and tender-stem broccoli completed our main course.

For desserts, we opted for the baked goats curd cheesecake with figs and an orange chocolate tart, which we washed down with delicious green and mint tea.  Both desserts were sweet and very moorish, the perfect end to a delicious meal. When we left we felt like we had travelled to Spain without having to take the flight.
