IRENE, Camberwell – Bakery by day, Wine bar by night

Camberwell is home to many quirky bars and bistros, and the newly opened ‘IRENE’ is one to add to your hit list if you’re in the area and looking for somewhere that’s a bakery by day but a wine bar by night.

IRENE serves exceptional loaves that are handmade onsite – sourdough, spelt, wholemeal and walnut to name a few. Sweet and savoury pastries (as well as cakes) and The Gentlemen Baristas coffee are available alongside a variety of independent wines. Open all-day Wednesday – Sunday, the bakery has already become known and loved by South London residents and is an excellent option for guests wanting to both eat-in or takeaway.

Alongside the bakery is a boutique wine shop, where wines on sale are available by the glass and bottle if you’re drinking in from midday. IRENE offers a carefully curated range of vinos – most are organic wines from small producers in France, Italy and Spain.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the IRENE wine bar is open between 6pm-11pm and drinkers can enjoy snacks, cheeses, and cold cuts of meats with a glass of wine. IRENE has created a welcoming and laid-back environment for drinkers (of coffee or wine), and visitors may even find their new favourite wine from the sixty-plus bottles they have on offer.
